Stop Tazmo!

As some of you might have noticed, I’ve never linked to Narutofan.com. This is because, for the past few years, it has been common knowledge that Narutofan.com illegally charges its users. I’ve re-posted two messages from the scanlation community explaining why Narutofan.com and its owner Tazmo should be stopped.

Stop Supporting Narutofan.com

Original message here

Dear Manga Fan,

As I’m sure you’re already well aware of – a site exists on the internet called www.narutofan.com. The owner (Tazmo) offers 2 programs that charge you a monthly fee to download manga and anime online.

Every week Tazmo will grab the latest manga from our websites or IRC channels and post them up on his subscription site without permission.

I am encouraging every current subscriber to cancel their payents to this unscrupulous opportunist. Tazmo is making a (likely ver decent) living off of charging people for the hard work of the raw providers, translators, scanlators, and of course the original mangaka/publishers. This business venture is not only morally wrong, it is the illegal sale of copyright material that he possessses no rights to – an endeavor that will sooner or later raise unwanted attention towards the community.

Most people paying his fees are unaware that they can quickly and easily get almost any decent series he offers without registration or payment off of websites like:

Others are under the illusion that they’re “supporting” Narutofan.com since he “only charges what’s necessary to maintain the site” (according to him) and if they didn’t send in these “donations” or keep their subscriptions, it would be bad for the Naruto community. Let me tell you this – if Narutofan.com disappeared tomorrow it wouldn’t even cause a tiny rift. People who enjoy discussing their favourite seires will find other, better websites. The release times / availability of manga and anime would be completely 100% affected.

If you’re one of the many people who pay him monthly, please stop supporting this criminal for the betterment of the community.

Regards,
The vast majority of those responsible for bringing you manga & anime.

Fight Tazmo

Original message here

To my fellow fans –

Recently, a member of the community named Blud typed out an informative, and well-written page [the message above] that detailed the exploits of Narutofan creator Tazmo.

The point of this was to further spread awareness of who Tazmo is, what he does, and why it is wrong. However, things like these tend to eventually need updating, and that is why this [message] has been typed out.

What Blud stated is all very correct. However, it must be brought to everyone’s attention that Tazmo has expanded into full-blown, stand-alone websites that he has referred to as “revolutionary” services.

http://www.anime-plus.com and http://www.mangaplus.com

These websites seek to misinform manga and anime fans across the world into believing that [Tazmo’s] services are fair, the only one of their kind, and more secure than using other resources such as IRC or BitTorrent to get what you want.

The truth is as follows: Tazmo himself uses IRC and BitTorrent to get the files on his websites. He uses the free resources that every single one of you can also use, so that he can charge you various fees for getting what is free.

Tazmo is profiteering off of a free service provided by various members of the anime and manga community who donate their spare time to bring the latest manga and anime to you for free. They donate their time, work and abilities in various areas, as well as use their own bandwidth to serve files.

There are various free ways to get and read the manga you want. There are free online readers such as http://www.onemanga.com as well as http://www.mangahut.com.

There are also resource websites such as http://www.mangahelpers.com, http://www.mangashare.com, as well as database resource sites such as http://www.mangaupdates.com.

There are thousands of people who work thousands of hours weekly to bring you the manga you love to read, as well as the anime you love to watch. They do it not to make a profit, but for free as a free service to the community that we all love very much. Every time Tazmo makes money off of their hard work he not only insults them, but insults all those who pay for his service.

Do the right thing: stop supporting Tazmo.
